You Are Beautiful

I have told this story before, but I think it is always a good reminder. All through high school I wore makeup every single day. I would have never even walked into the grocery store without makeup on. I thought that I needed it. I didn’t think I was attractive without it. I thought I would be judged without it. I never want another person to feel like they have to live like that.

Do you know what is attractive? Being your authentic, fun, goofy, natural, carefree self.

Personal growth is so important. I went to college and had the realization that if someone didn’t like me, or think I was cool enough because I wasn’t wearing makeup, they weren’t a person that I needed in my life. This should be common sense, but at the time it wasn’t. This is when I started really seeing the people around me and what mattered to them.

When I get on my stories or post on social media without makeup on, it is actually a big deal in the grand scheme of my life. Not because it should be, but because it is a huge demonstration of personal growth. Six years ago, I would have never even dreamed of showing my face in public or on the internet with no makeup on. Literally no one should feel that way.

This is an important reminder to love yourself and be yourself. How you treat yourself is how others will learn to treat you. Have high standards. Never let someone else make you feel less than extraordinary. You are beautiful.

I would like to also state that there is nothing wrong with wearing makeup. I clearly wear it often. It is fun and makes you feel great. There is nothing wrong with that. But, you should never feel like you have to. There is a huge difference.

Life kinda sucks sometimes, but those are just the lessons you have to learn along the way, right? While it wasn't great that I used to feel this way, like I always say, I like to find the good in every experience. The good thing is that I learned from it. I am a strong, beautiful, independent business owner. Remind yourself of how amazing you are every day.

My challenge to you is that if you journal, write down three things that you love about yourself every day. If you don’t journal, think about it while you’re getting ready in the morning or getting ready for bed. Whatever your method of self-care is, use that time to simply love yourself.

Always find the good.

xoxo ~ Shelby
