DIY Honeycomb Shelves

The link above is to my Instagram Reel on how to DIY your own honeycomb shelves. This was an idea that I came up with when I saw other influencers have those super cute shelves, that everyone can not afford.

I have been asked by a lot of people how I came up with the idea and if I could be more thorough in my explanation aside from the Reel. So this is the Step-By-Step on how to DIY your own Honeycomb Shelves!

Step 1:

  • Get all the supplies you need HERE

  • The honeycombs themselves I couldn't link on LTK, but click HERE for the honeycombs

Step 2:

  • Definitely do this outside so get a towel that you don't care about to put down under the shelves

  • You will also need pieces of towel that you will be comfortable throwing away

Step 3:

  • Sand your shelves

  • Wipe the shelves down after you sand them

Step 4:

  • Use the sponge brush to apply a light layer of stain to the shelves

Step 5:

  • After about an hour, wipe the stain off with the towel

  • (The directions for each stain may be different on how long to leave it on there before wiping it down so you should read the label on your can)

Step 6:

  • I waited until the next day to apply the second layer of stain but you can check your can to see if you have to wait that long for yours before you apply the next layer of stain

  • You also do not have to apply another layer if you are happy with the color of the first

  • Be sure to wipe the stain off after the second layer also

Step 7:

  • Apply a thin layer of polyurethane after the stain is COMPLETELY dry

  • I waited until the day after I stained them to apply the polyurethane

  • Once I applied the polyurethane I gave it another full day before I hung them on the wall

Step 8:

  • HANG THEM AND LOVE THEM
